Abstract

|
From February, 1983 to May, 1984, to evaluate the clinical efficacy of cefotetan(YM 09330), a new cephamycin family derivative, the treatment was made with the drug in 30 inpatients including 12 with pneumonia, 10 with bronchitis, 5 with pyelonephritis, 2 with cystitis, and 1 with acute cholecystitis.
Response was good in 23 patients, fair in 4 and poor in 3. Side effects noted were diarrhea and skin eruption in 1 case. Laboratory abnormalities were observed as leucopenia in 1 and slight elevation of SGOT and SGPT in 1 patient. According to the above results, the drug can be considered to be useful against respiratory and urinary tract infections.
